In a small village outside Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan,
I was photographing a group of women. I postioned them against a striking
blue doorway next to a tree stand full of pots in order to make a unique
composition. I came in close and bent low with my EOS1N Canon camera
with a 17-35mm f/2.8 lens to create an intimate feeling. I also used
a bit of fill flash with my 540EZ flash on a -1 2/3 setting with an
amber gel in a LumiQuest FX bounce to add a sparkle of warmth. You can
see that I was using my LowePro Magnum AW camera bag with a hip stance
so all my equipment was accessible at a moment's notice.
