Machu Picchu, Peru

Your Pictures Come Alive When You Change Your Perspective

It's challenging to get a fresh view of one of the most photographed ruins in the world. I only had a day in less than desirable light, and renovation work marred many of the perspectives. My solution was to set my tripod very low to the ground, inches behind a clump of side-lit foliage, using my Canon 17-35mm lens toward the 17mm setting. The foliage dominates the frame but masks the construction work, adds color to an otherwise very drab scene and leads the eye toward Machu Picchu. (Kodak E100S)
